Looking for a cost effective way to great skin

We all want flawless skin, and it seems we’d do pretty much anything to get it, or to make it appear as though we have it. We spend a fortune on face creams, pampering facials and all kinds of lotions and potions to get a smooth look and healthy glow. According to this article in the Huffington post, women in the US spend around $7 billion on cosmetics annually. If you are a make-up lover too, it may come as no surprise that the same article reports that in a survey of British women, 91 per cent said they would rather cancel a first date than go on it barefaced.

But what is the most cost-effective way to get a flawless look? This article will explore three ways to better skin.

Make up

While foundations, blushers and concealers can be relatively inexpensive, they are not designed to give any lasting results. They cover, even out, highlight and freshen your face while you wear them, but once you take them off, it’s just you again – and any blemishes, dullness or imperfections you had before will still be there. However, the process of wearing makeup necessitates a good cleansing routine (unless you want orange pillows) so your skin will benefit in this way.

Skin creams

There are creams out there that promise to solve every face-related problem you can imagine, it seems. Most face creams work by providing a hit of moisture to your skin, which will make it look healthier. Some have illuminating qualities that will provide an even better glow. Products that are anti-ageing should have a sun protection factor of at least 15; these creams will offer some protection from the sun’s harmful rays.

Cosmetic procedures

According to a poll by whichskincare, none of the people questioned are happy with their skin the way it is, and 34 per cent would look to lasers, peels and fillers to help them feel better about their faces. 20 per cent would go for surgery to get the look their after. While invasive surgery requires downtime, non-surgical treatments such as microdermabrasion – which you can find out about here – or skin peels provide long-term results that can make your skin look younger and healthier.

When considering the three options as long-term solutions for dull or unhealthy-looking skin, it may be worth investing more money initially to avoid having to keep trying different make up and creams until you find the one that works for you, and then spending out on that indefinitely as the effects do not last. Before undergoing any surgical or non-surgical procedure, however, ensure you talk to a board-certified doctor.
